JustGive helps users come up with a systematic plan to give to charities they care about. The site records the user’s donation history so they can use it for tax purposes each year. JustGive provides user with a secure, safe way to give to over one million charities. Users are encouraged to create a donation plan so they can keep on giving comfortably within their budget. JustGive provides users with a ‘giving basket,’ which is essentially an online shopping cart that lets the user add or remove the charities they wish to donate to. The user can checkout whenever they are ready or save their giving basket for a future donation. Users can also purchase charity gift cards to pass around the opportunity to give. Newlyweds and others can set up a charity registration to ask friends and family to give on their behalf instead of giving actual gifts.
JustGive was founded in July of 1999 by Kendall Webb. The website was intended to encourage users to give to the charities they feel passionately about. Based out of San Francisco, California, the JustGive team includes Executive Director Webb, CEO John Sculley, CTO Dennis Faust and Advisory Board Member John Donahoe. Many individuals and charities turn to JustGive as a way to process donations and increase awareness throughout the world.
JustGive provides many of the same functions of other charity focused websites. What makes JustGive an appealing alternative is the focus on making donations a regular part of a person’s life. Users can create their own charity giving plans, fill up their donation basket and set up a registration to ask for donations to their favorite charity for special occasions.
